Terms of Service

1. Overview
ChronoSeal is a software platform and verification infrastructure that provides cryptographic, tamper-evident recording and verification of employee time events ("Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you ("Customer") agree to these Terms.
2. The Service
ChronoSeal provides:
- Recording of employee time events (clock-in, clock-out, breaks)
- An append-only, cryptographically linked event ledger
- Daily sealing of records with independent timestamping
- Public and private verification of recorded data
- Administrative tools for managing staff, locations, and records
- Employee self-access to personal records and verification tools
ChronoSeal is designed to support compliance with applicable labour regulations, including record-keeping requirements under Spanish labour law, when used correctly.
3. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring lawful processing of employee data
- Informing employees of time tracking and data use
- Maintaining accurate staff records
- Managing access to accounts, kiosks, and devices
- Using the Service in accordance with applicable law
You must not attempt to alter, bypass, or interfere with the event chain, use the Service for unlawful or fraudulent purposes, or misuse access credentials or system access.
4. Data Integrity and Verification Model
ChronoSeal operates an append-only, cryptographically verifiable ledger. Events cannot be edited or deleted once recorded. Corrections are recorded as new events. Each event is linked to the previous event via cryptographic hashing. Daily seals provide verifiable checkpoints.
ChronoSeal preserves a complete historical audit trail, including all original records and all subsequent corrections. No historical data is overwritten or removed.
5. Independent Verification and Permanence
ChronoSeal records are designed to be tamper-evident, mathematically verifiable, and independently verifiable — via ChronoSeal's public verification interface, or independently using exported data and verification tools.
Once sealed, records remain verifiable indefinitely via cryptographic proofs. Verification does not depend on ChronoSeal systems and can be performed independently using exported data.
6. Accuracy vs Integrity
ChronoSeal guarantees the integrity and immutability of recorded data after submission. ChronoSeal does not control the accuracy of user input or real-world actions at the point of entry. The Service provides proof of what was recorded, not a guarantee of real-world accuracy.
7. Timestamping
ChronoSeal integrates with independent timestamp authorities, including standard RFC 3161 timestamp providers and eIDAS-qualified timestamp providers where applicable. ChronoSeal does not control third-party timestamp providers but ensures integration with recognised, independent verification sources.
8. Data Retention
ChronoSeal enforces a non-destructive data model. Recorded events are not deleted. Records remain stored as part of a continuous audit chain. ChronoSeal supports retention requirements under applicable labour laws, including retention of employee time records for a minimum of four (4) years in Spain where applicable.
Records may be marked inactive but are not removed from the system. Deletion requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and may be restricted due to the integrity requirements of the audit trail.
9. Employee Access and Transparency
Employees may access their own records during their period of active employment, view full event history and sealed records, and export their data and verification bundles. Employee access may be disabled by the Customer upon termination of employment.
ChronoSeal provides public verification of sealed records and exported verification bundles for offline validation. Employees and Customers can retain these records independently of ChronoSeal systems.
10. Availability
ChronoSeal aims to provide a reliable and continuously available service. Availability may be affected by maintenance, infrastructure issues, or third-party dependencies. Service interruptions do not affect the integrity of recorded data, the validity of sealed records, or the ability to verify records independently.
11. Data Ownership
You retain ownership of employee data, recorded time events, and exported records and verification bundles. ChronoSeal retains ownership of the software platform, the cryptographic verification model, and the system architecture. ChronoSeal has no rights to use customer data beyond providing the Service.
12. Termination and Data Access
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon termination, data is not deleted from the system. Customers are responsible for exporting required records prior to termination. Previously sealed records remain verifiable independently and can be validated using exported data and verification tools. ChronoSeal may, at its discretion, provide access to data or exports after termination upon request.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChronoSeal is not liable for employment disputes, misuse of the system, decisions made based on recorded data, or inaccurate input provided by users. ChronoSeal's total liability is limited to the amount paid by the Customer in the preceding 12 months.
14. Changes to Terms
ChronoSeal may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain and the European Union.
